Thai massage, known as yoga for slackers, consists of pressures that will release the areas of greatest tension, and stretches of the whole body while relaxing.
Stretching session
Stretching is the lengthening of the muscle beyond the length it has in its resting position. They are gentle and maintained exercises that serve to prepare the muscles for greater effort and increase the range of motion in the joints.
Although stretching is very important for those who lead an active life, it nevertheless has excellent benefits for those who are not as active.
Stretching has been shown to decrease muscle stiffness, improve muscle tone, improve circulation, reduce the risk of injury, decrease back pain, improve posture, aid in stress management, improve muscle efficiency and in general, improve the total performance of the body; we improve flexibility. Flexibility is the range of motion that is available for one or more joints, and it is very important to retain it because:
– It improves muscle balance around a joint, thus improving body posture.
– Reduces the likelyhood of injury while practicing sports or in everyday activities.
– It increases the blood supply and nutrients to muscles and cartilage.
Before starting a stretching routine, you should first perform a warm-up. This can be done with low-intensity exercise for 5 to 10 minutes, such as brisk walking, biking, or climbing stairs. Then, once the muscles start to warm up engines, stretching can begin.
Each muscle group should be stretched slowly and with control, keeping each stretch for 10 to 30 seconds and repeating it 2 to 3 times.
Finally, you have to keep each stretch at the point of mild tension and gradually increase the tension, but avoid reaching the point of pain and never rebound (increase and decrease the tension quickly several times) as it can cause damage to the tendons, ligaments and muscles that are stretched.
When NOT to stretch:
· When you have muscle injuries or ligament sprains.
· When joints or muscles have inflammation or sharp pain.
• After recent fractures.
